Our Mission

At Nad Music Institute, our mission is to teach Sikh music and instruments to dedicated Sikh students. We have been working tirelessly to lift up the history of Sikh music and instill in our Sikh students a deep understanding of Rags, Kirtan and Gurbani, blending the past and present. Our goal is to inspire, unite sikhs worldwide through the timeless rhythms of Sikh music and nurture the next generation of Sikh musicians who will continue this rich musical tradition for generations to come.

At Nad Music, our vision is to be the keepers of Sikh musical heritage. We are dedicated to preserving the historical richness of Sikh rags, shabads, and the art of kirtan. We ensure that original Sikh instruments, such as saranda, taus, and dilruba etc, remain a vibrant part of Sikh culture for generations to come. We envision a world where the divine melodies of Sikhism inspire and unite people across the globe

Hardeep Kaur

Hardeep Kaur, also known as Mata ji, is a senior Kirtan advisor at Nad Music Institute with 36 years of experience. She’s a dedicated Gursikh and Sabad Kirtani who has taught Kirtan worldwide, authored three books, and holds a Gurmat Sangeet diploma from Punjabi University. Additionally, she spent 8 years mastering Indian classical vocal music under Ustad Subash Gosh and the last 6 years learning Rabab under Ustad Partha Sen’s guidance. She has authored three books – Namo Geet Geete, Har Amrit Bhinnay Lo-inaa and Naad Baid. 

 

Jasnoor Kaur

Jasnoor Kaur started learning music at the age of 6 from Bhai Amritpal Singh and later on took guidance from Principal Sukhwant Singh. Jasnoor Kaur’s ambition is to devote her life to music and promote Sabad Kirtan written in Guru Granth Sahib. She wants to carry her music passion throughout her life, serving people spiritually and using music as a tool to heal. She holds 3-year certification as vocalist in Indian classical music from Pracheen Kala Kendra. 

Dr. Manjit Singh

Dr. Manjit Singh is Co-founder of Nād Music Institute. He is a researcher, educator, practitioner and lover of Gurbani Kirtan. Passionate about the fine musical details contained in the Guru Granth Sahib, he is keen to bring forth their original flavor through research and collaboration with experts in the field. He holds a PhD in Acoustics and Masters degree in Gurmat Sangit. 

Prabhmeet Singh

Prabhmeet Singh is co-founder of Nād Music Institute and an ardent Gurbani Kirtan listener and learner. He also assists with weekly string instrument classes. He holds a special interest in listening to Dhadhi’s and wants to preserve Gurbani Kirtan and Dhadhi form in its originality. Prabhmeet works for a large cloud computing platform in Seattle.

Ustad Surjeet Singh

Ustad Surjeet Singh is a leading sarangi player and a senior student of Pandit Ram Narayan. He serves as Senior Advisor at the Nād Music Institute. He has lead several workshops and camps and has taught students of all age groups across the globe and has made several solo sarangi performances around the world.

Gurtej Singh

Gurtej Singh is a professional tabla artist who has played around the world. His musical journey began in his childhood under his father’s guidance, renowned Sarangi Maestro, Ustad Surjeet Singh. He began learning tabla from Rajesh Kumar Malviya, who has been disciple of Ustad Allah Rakha Khan Sahib. He furthered his training into Pakhawaj from Ustad Fateh Singh Gangani from Delhi and also had the opportunity to gain tutelage from Pandit Yogesh Samsi. He lives in Virginia (USA) with his family.

Amaninder Singh

Amaninder Singh is a music enthusiastic and Tabla exponent. He has double bachelors, one in Computer Science and other in Music (with specialization in Tabla). He is an active member of Nād Music Institute and leads the weekly string instrument Kirtan class. By profession, Amaninder is a software developer.

Harpreet Singh

Harpreet Singh is an avid listener and learner of Gurbani Kitan. He is passionate about preserving and promoting Gurbani Kirtan as it was done in Sikh Guru’s court few centuries ago. He is currently learning traditional string instrument (Dilruba) and percussion instrument (Pakhawaj). Professionally, he is an MBA in Marketing and has held business growth roles in the multi-national corporations.

Prof. Harbhajan Singh

Prof. Harbhajan Singh is an exponent of Pakhawaj and Tabla from the Panjab Gharana (Lahore Baj). He serves as Senior Research Fellow at the Nād Music Institute. He is an expert percussionist and researcher, who has published several articles on the importance of rhythm, Tabla and Pakhawaj. He  has developed a deep understanding of the Indian classical and folk music tradition. He holds Masters degree in Music.
